GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 136388
context menu is misplaced when brought up with keyboard (should be at caret position)
Last modified: 2009-12-28 02:10:13 UTC
Steps to reproduce: 0) activate caret browsing with F7 1) load a web page 2) click somewhere in the page to position the caret there 3) press Shift-F10 to pop up the context menu 4) Cancel the context menu with ESC Actual results: Context menu is popped up at the left upper corner of the embed area. After cancelling the context menu, the caret is invisible. Expected results: Context menu pops up near the caret position. After cancelling the context menu, the caret is visible and at the same position as before.
The menu position is wrong also in mozilla; probably the DOM event has the wrong coordinates. I found many context-menu positioning bugs on b.m.o, but none which adressed this particular problem. I can't reproduce the disappearing caret with mozilla context menu; and I can't test in TestGtkEmbed since it doesn't have context menus. The symptoms however appear similar to http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=169297 : when the caret was on a linked element, it does not disappear after the context menu is dismissed.
Mass reassigning of Epiphany bugs to epiphany-maint@b.g.o
The missing caret is fixed with ff1.5/trunk backend; the misplaced context menu remains. Retitling.
I found something even better, before pressing F10 take your mouse out of ephy window (let's say over the panel or over any other window) and then press shift+F10 and you'll see the popup appearing there (kind of senseless?).
