Description André Dahlqvist 2004-03-01 22:04:19 UTC
Christian asked me to log this bug, as a reminder for him. We should check
that "förhandsgranska" is used consistently though the translation, instead
of "förhandsvisa".

I've now brought this up for discussion on the sv list:

Daniel, what do you think?
Comment 3 Daniel Nylander 2006-07-12 16:48:44 UTC
Yes, it should be "förhandsgranska" to be consistent.
Comment 4 Christian Rose 2006-07-12 16:55:37 UTC
I guess my main objection at the time was that I felt that "förhandsvisning" was more appropriate than "förhandsgranskning" as the noun (as, for example, used in the window title).

So, following that line of reasoning, we would have "förhandsgranska" ("preview" action) in the menus, and "förhandsvisning" ("preview" noun) in the window titles. This would put a lot of responsibility on the translator, in order to know the context of the word "preview", and be able to adapt the translation accordingly.

What do you think?

Good!
There could of course be a problem to see which strings are used as window titles and which are not.
I guess one of the easiest way is to see if the string uses an accelerator (which should indicate that it is used as a menu option)

Do you want me to find out which modules are affected and then implement the changes?

Yes, please! That would be awesome.
Comment 7 Daniel Nylander 2006-07-12 17:42:07 UTC
OK. I will do it.. but not now (busy with beer and barbeque!)
Comment 8 Daniel Nylander 2007-09-06 18:29:07 UTC
I'm closing this now.
I hope that all strings have been changed in 2.20, if not reopen this BR.
