Subject: Bug#230805: gnumeric: close has same effect as exit
From: Richard Kimber <rkimber@ntlworld.com>
Date: Mon, 02 Feb 2004 16:30:08 +0000

Package: gnumeric
Version: 1.2.0-1
Severity: normal

When choosing to close an open spreadsheet with the close menu option
gnumeric exits instead of just closing the spreadsheet. Thus one has to
restart gnumeric in order to open another shreadshet.
Comment 1 J.H.M. Dassen (Ray) 2004-02-02 17:34:34 UTC
The HIG distinguished three application types for the behaviour of
File -> Close: Single document interface, Controlled single document
interface, Multiple document interface.

Gnumeric's current behaviour is that specified for "single document
interface", but gnumeric supports multiple documents, so it would be
more consistent to have the multiple document interface behaviour
"close the current document and create a new blank document".
