GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 131828
file type taking precedance over extension type
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
Description of Problem: Compressed application file formats like OpenOffice, dia that use zip/gzip formats, are being incorrectly detected/shown as zip/gzip archives instead of application types. Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Any compressed application file format (eg. dia) Actual Results: Files shown as zip or gzip archives in Nautilus Expected Results: They should be shown as the correct application type. How often does this happen? Looks like file type is taking precendence over extension type. Additional Information: Looks similar to a bug in gnome 2.3: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=110958
Could you attach a file having these king of issues? gzip files are special cased to avoid these issues.

Yup, you're right, gzipped files are ok (tested Dia), but not zipped OpenOffice files.
Ok, so this is a dupe of #123979 which is fixed in gnome-vfs 2.5 *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 123979 ***
