in 0.29.1 the version of libxklavier listed is 0.95 but 0.96 is available.
 I updated the version manually and tested it.  

It worked for me, and additionally it includes a bugfix so that it will
compile when X is installed into a non-standard location ( the reason I
looked for a new version )
