Description Sebastien Bacher 2003-12-23 20:05:45 UTC
This bug was originally reported in the Debian BTS:
http://bugs.debian.org/224156

"I have four workspaces, and switches quite often with ctrl+alt+left|right.
I often setup some apps together, like one emacs window and a (gnome)
terminal on the second worspace. Occasionally, the terminal disappears from
that workspace and appears to another (the first, as far as I can tell)
without apparent reason.

This happened many (~ 10) times, accross several reboots, so there is
definitely a bug. So far, I did not find a way to reproduce it reliably.

I have auto-raise and sloppy focus enabled, in case this matters."
Comment 1 Sebastien Bacher 2003-12-23 20:09:19 UTC
I've sometimes some apps changing of desktop too ... I think it's
probably after metacity crashes (I can see the borders go off during
1s and come back when it happens).
Comment 2 Olivier Crête 2004-01-07 14:37:38 UTC
to me this looks like bug 122016
Comment 3 Rob Adams 2004-01-10 16:52:06 UTC
Debian BTS report indicates metacity 2.6.2, so I'm going to go out on
a limb and say its Bug 122016, as suggested.

*** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 122016 ***
Comment 4 Sebastien Bacher 2004-01-10 16:59:56 UTC
Not the same bug, 122016 is about apps from an another workspace in
the windows' list ... this one is about windows changing of desktop
after a crash.
Comment 5 Rob Adams 2004-01-10 17:06:21 UTC
The only way that could happen is if the workspace hint was set wrong
on the window before the crash; there's was a crashing bug related to
122016 that could lead to crashing on workspace switch, which would
show this sort of behavior. I'll leave it open for now but I'll need
someone to test this using the latest metacity HEAD.
Comment 6 Rob Adams 2004-03-04 21:20:57 UTC
Closing on lack of activity, since I think this is fixed.
Comment 7 Elijah Newren 2004-03-04 21:36:50 UTC
Ah, I forgot about this bug. FWIW, I also saw this bug while trying
to reproduce bug 122016, and Rob's explanation matches my experience.
So, upgrading to CVS should fix the problem for you. ;)
