GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 128400
Add an "Install Font" option when right-clicking font-file in nautilus [Usability Bug]

[Usability Bug] [Should perhaps be filed to nautilus] Some people that have used gnome for some time, still are not aware of how to install fonts (they arent aware of fonts:///) such as .ttf files for example. I have seen this in some discussions on the gnomedesktop.org site. The way I expected it to work and I find intuitive is to have an option in the menu you get when you right-click on the font-file in nautilus. I have seen nautilus-cd-burner do this for .iso files so I know its doable. This option would be called "Install Font" and by clicking on it the font would be installed in the ~/.fonts directory and available to all programs. In #125704 a similar sollution is proposed but I think the way I proposed is more useful since it should give the user the possibility to select several font-files at the same time and right-click and choose "Install Font" to install them all directly.

-> gnome-utils gnome-font-viewer has now moved to gnome-utils, reassigning.
We have an install button now in the application; I don't think an additional Nautilus extension would improve things further.
