Description pi.c 2003-11-21 09:21:41 UTC
Distribution: Debian testing/unstable
Package: rhythmbox
Severity: normal
Version: GNOME2.4.1 unspecified
Gnome-Distributor: GNOME.Org
Synopsis: Freezing when playback of live streams is interrupted
Bugzilla-Product: rhythmbox
Bugzilla-Component: General
Bugzilla-Version: unspecified
Description:
Description of Problem:
Stopping the playback of Internet radio freezes the application.

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. start playback of any livestream from the Sources/Radio list
2. stop playback via the STOP button, menu entry or keyboard shortcut
3.

Actual Results:
Playback stops, but the program freezes. After a while, or immediately
if application is closed, a warning box pops up saying
"The window (name) is not responding. Forcing this application to quit
will cause you to lose any unsaved changes."

Expected Results:
Playback stops and can be resumed.

How often does this happen?
always

Additional Information:
Stopping playback works ok for mp3 files from the library. Also, it is
possible to playback a livestream, then switch to another one without
the program quitting. One can also play a livestream, choose Library
from Sources and start playback of an mp3-file via doubleclick without
any harm.

xine-lib or gstreamer backend?
Comment 2 pi.c 2003-11-22 11:03:32 UTC
gstreamer
Comment 3 Justin Georgeson 2003-11-24 23:24:38 UTC
I'm having this problem too. I just installed rhythmbox 0.6.1 from
source with garnome 0.27.1. Should be using gstreamer 0.6.3 as the
backend (fairly certain xine isn't even installed on this machine).
Comment 4 Bastien Nocera 2003-11-24 23:26:47 UTC
You can check in the about box.
Comment 5 Justin Georgeson 2003-11-25 14:59:34 UTC
gstreamer it is.
Comment 6 Justin Georgeson 2004-01-07 22:00:48 UTC
I just upgraded to rhythmbox 0.6.3 and still have this problem.

output of `rhythmbox -d`
Comment 8 Justin Georgeson 2004-01-15 17:48:22 UTC
I'm still having this problem on 0.6.4. I've attached the output of
`rhythmbox -d` and have an strace, but there seems to be a problem
with bugzilla. How long can it take to try and duplicate this bug?
It's been 2 months since someone other than me commented on it. If
someone can tell me how to set up gdb or ddd to run out of the source
tree I can get some output from that too.
Comment 9 Fernando Herrera 2004-01-15 20:20:23 UTC
Justin, do you have problems trying to attach a big file to this bugs?
Have you tried it more than one time?

bzip'ed output of `strace -v`
Comment 11 Justin Georgeson 2004-01-15 20:27:54 UTC
That was it. The strace output turned out to be 1.2 M. So I ran it
thru bzip and brought it down to 71 k, and then bugzilla let me attach
it. Thanks.

Comment 15 Christophe Fergeau 2004-11-01 16:04:35 UTC
IS it still happening with rhythmbox 0.8.8 and recent gstreamer versions?
Comment 16 pi.c 2004-11-01 17:55:54 UTC
_Stopping_ playback of a livestream works with rhythmbox 0.8.8. It still does
freeze, however, when the connection is lost.
Comment 17 Justin Georgeson 2006-02-03 01:29:57 UTC
forgot all about this. seems to work fine these days, i currently have 0.9.1 installed.
Comment 18 James "Doc" Livingston 2006-02-03 04:49:28 UTC
Okay, marking FIXED as per comment. This should work fine in 0.9.x versions.
