Description aaron 2003-11-20 19:55:23 UTC
Make automatic smiley substitution easier to work around when enabled: have
the substitution undone as though it were a character that could be deleted.

I don't think its wise to have smilies in the composer at all. Well
technically its the GtkHTML Bonobo control which supports smilies. But
thats a very evo/email-client centric thing. Now if some other app
(like a HTML Editor e.g. Peacock) uses the GtkHTML bonobo control,
there shuldn't be any smily support. There is non in HTML.
Comment 7 Kenneth Rohde Christiansen 2003-11-27 21:31:07 UTC
Then add a function to turn smiley substitution on and off.
Comment 8 Jan Arne Petersen 2003-11-27 21:54:07 UTC
Such a function is already present in gtkhtml.
Comment 9 Kenneth Rohde Christiansen 2003-11-29 23:07:31 UTC
Have you send the patch to the evolution-patches list (or whatever it
is called?) for review?
Comment 10 David Björklund 2004-11-12 21:29:48 UTC
there has been no progress on this bug-report for almost a year.
Have there been any progress in the real world? In the matter of this bug of course.
Comment 11 Philip Van Hoof 2004-11-18 15:15:25 UTC
David, It looks like this has been implemented already (even deployed by Fedora
Core 3).
