Description Nigel 2003-11-11 05:39:47 UTC
The computer name that is being connected to is truncated by 2 charactors
at the end. So to connect I have to put 2 extra charactors in.

ie if I want to connect to mycomputer i would put mycomputer12.

hmm, this doesn't happen here. Could you please run 'ps ax | grep ssh'
on a terminal, and see the command being run.

This same issue is happening to me as well using gnome-remote-desktop
v1.99.5 on a gnome 2.5 snapshot. In order to connect to host
"192.168.1.130" I must enter in something like "192.168.1.130xx". The
same thing occurs when using hostnames as well. To connect to host
"alexandria" on my net I must enter "alexandriaxx" When using a
hostname I receive an error that the host was not found. The hostname
returned in the error message is in fact the hostname entered with the
last two letters missing.

Steps to repeat:
1) run gnome-remote-desktop
2) enter a valid hostname
3) connect to host
4) an error message should be returned stating that the host was not
found. Notice that the last two letters of the hostname are truncated.

A screen shot of the error can be found here:

Had a chance to test this on Gnome 2.6 RC1 and this is still an issue
that needs to be resolved.

gnome-remote-network is not developed anymore. Porbably you would like to try vino.
