GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 126304
not using gnome-print
Last modified: 2009-02-14 19:27:43 UTC
At this time, if you're working in a network where you have several printers, you can't choose them easily when you are printing from galeon ( have to enter -P printername, not very userfriendly ). Gnome normally provide an API which allow to have the list of available ( http://www.gnome.org/projects/gnome-print/ ). Galeon should this this API in order to make the printing experience easier and more friendly

We're rather dependent on the printing API Mozilla provides, and I'm not sure the two quite match. Copying the related Mozilla bugs here in case someone wants to look into it. Add gfx/src/gnomeprint. http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=192999 Use gnome's native print dialog. http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=193001
I've had similar problems in the UI. I have 3 printers set up in gnome-print that I need to print to at work. If I select another print queue than the default it still prints to the default printer, not the printer selected in Galeon's UI. This caused me quite embarrassment yesterday when I printed a document across the WAN when it was supposed to go to the printer in the next room. Lance
May I know what's the status of this issue? I encounter the same problem as that described in comment #3 on Galeon 1.3.21, ie can't select printer via the Printer: drop-down, and must rely on filling in lpr -P <device> in the Command: field. Would someone so privileged please confirm this issue and perhaps rewrite the issue summary?
Even better. Now we're using gtk-print.
