If you select a rectangular area and go to "insert cells", default is
always "move cells to the right".
In XL or OO, if you select a area of e.g. 1 cell vertically and 4 cells
horizontally, the soft "understands" automatically that you want to move
cells down.

This is such a trivial change that it is hard to ignore.
