Description Åsmund Skjæveland 2003-10-19 14:45:47 UTC
The web page http://gstreamer.net/releases/redhat/ has instructions for how
to set up apt to download Gstreamer on Red Hat machines. At one place, it says:

" * For Red Hat 8.0 and 9.0, a stock Red Hat system will do. You should
add "redhat" to the previous lines. For Ximian add 'ximian'. So for 8.0,
you would get the following using stock Red Hat:

rpm http://gstreamer.net/releases/redhat/ redhat-80-i386 deps redhat
rpm-src http://gstreamer.net/releases/redhat/ redhat-80-i386 deps redhat

# If you run Ximian Gnome 2, add "ximian" after deps on both these lines."

But there is no package list for Ximian in the RH9 repository, so adding
"ximian" to these source lines won't work. apt then gives a 404 error:

Err http://gstreamer.net redhat-9-i386/ximian pkglist

Ign http://gstreamer.net redhat-9-i386/ximian release

i don't think you'll find any RH9 package anytime soon

nowadays, gstreamer team distribute some Fedora Core 3 RPMs, perhaps older FC

closing as it is a packaging/distro issue
