On my system, automatic downloading of the xft-2.1.2.tar.gz,
xrender-0.8.3.tar.gz and render-0.8.tar.gz packages from freedesktop.org
failed. Some of these are not in the specified locations, others result in
a permission denied.

The new location for these packages appears to be:
http://pdx.freedesktop.org/software/fontconfig/releases/

This is fixed in 0.28.3.
