Description Luke Hutchison 2003-09-26 17:41:10 UTC
It would be nice to be able to paste without having Gnumeric change the
formulae that are being pasted, temporarily treating them as absolute
references and not relative references for duration of the paste operation.
It happens a lot that I have a column of formulae that contain some
relative references, then I need a column that is very similar but needs
some modifications in the formulae. When going copy->paste, all those
relative refences change, and I have to go back through and change them
back to what they originally said before pasting.

The Paste Special box is probably a natural place for this option.
Comment 1 Jody Goldberg 2004-09-28 05:17:13 UTC
This is still a good idea. It would be a good project for someone.
Comment 2 Morten Welinder 2004-09-29 17:09:33 UTC
You can actually get this effect by using copy and paste in the edit line.
(That is textual copy and paste.)

Not very elegant, but at least possible.
Comment 3 Luke Hutchison 2004-09-29 17:26:23 UTC
:) True. Doesn't work for copying/pasting a whole range of formulae at once though.

It seems that all the required code with the exception of the user interface was already in place.

This problem has been fixed in the development version. The fix will be available in the next major software release. Thank you for your bug report.
