Description Johnathan Bailes 2003-08-31 23:33:09 UTC
Folders and Trash and other objects controlled directly by Nautilus give
no doubleclick feedback from the desktop. Such feedback is handled in an
open Nautilus window by the spinner. Since there is no spinner on the
desktop the user gets no feedback for doubleclicking a folder or Trash or
Starthere icon on the desktop.

Feedback for launching files with mime launch feedback works. If I click
on a folder or other Nautilus controlled object from within a Nautilus
window the spinner gives feedback. What is missing is feedback for
clicking on a Nautilus controlled default object from the desktop itself.

Still present in 2.22, five years later... :-(
Comment 3 António Fernandes 2018-01-02 18:51:20 UTC
Starting with version 3.28, nautilus will not handle the "files on desktop background" feature. For better alternatives, read this blog post https://csorianognome.wordpress.com/2017/12/21/nautilus-desktop-plans/
