Description George Lebl 2003-07-16 18:18:13 UTC
Allow for custom widgetry (likely custom dialogs) for specific pam
questions. Would be useful to make some tasks more user friendly. Suppose
that the greeter would have a config file that would be like:

[CustomPAMAction1]
PAMQuestion=Please enter foo:
CustomProgram=/usr/bin/foo-entry

And if the greeter saw 'Please enter foo:' from PAM, it would run
foo-entry which would be some custom GUI program that would get the
response from the user and write it out on the standard output.
Of course you'd need to make sure that the PAMQuestion is exactly
that and isn't translated or anything like that by PAM. Though I
can think of ugly random hacks by gdm to get this to work even
with translations :)

I would accept a patch if someone needs this feature.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug.
However, you are using a version that is too old and not supported anymore. GNOME developers are no longer working on that version, so unfortunately there will not be any bug fixes for the version that you use.

By upgrading to a newer version of GNOME you could receive bug fixes and new functionality. You may need to upgrade your Linux distribution to obtain a newer version of GNOME.
Please feel free to reopen this bug if the problem still occurs with a newer version of GNOME.
