Description Paul Johnson 2003-06-25 10:57:43 UTC
If I use "Plonk" to killfile someone, and someone replies to the person who
has been plonked then I can see the reply - however, the thread is no
greyed as if all the thread had been read (i.e. even though the poster has
been plonked and Pan has recognised it, the thread remains "open")

This is especially prevellent if someone has cross posted and the person is
no plonked in the other group (very annoying if you don't subscribe to the
other groups which have been posted to!)

Hi Paul,

I think part of this is that you're confusing `plonk author'
with `ignore thread', which isn't a bug, and part of this is
that the `plonk author' dialog by default creates scorefile
entries that only apply to the current newsgroup, which
is IMO a usability problem.

0.14.1 should have an `all groups' option under the Newsgroups
section of the `add to scorefile' dialog, and that should be
the default setting when the user hits `plonk author'.

However, I don't see why the replies of a plonked author
should be hidden.
Comment 2 Paul Johnson 2003-06-27 08:09:13 UTC
Hi,

I'm not really on about the ignore thread. If you read a thread right
the way through, Pan turns the thread title from black to grey. If an
author is plonked and all of the thread with the exception on the
plonked author is read, the thread title remains black to say that
there are unread articles in that thread.

Surely if an author is plonked then it should be assumed that their
posting has been read and so the thread title turns grey.

Comment 3 Charles Kerr 2003-07-15 04:35:51 UTC
aha, perhaps is_new() should also take the article's score
into account ... or maybe just the header pane renderer.
Comment 4 Charles Kerr 2003-07-15 22:16:45 UTC
Hmm. IMO if the plonked articles aren't shown (i.e., if the
"Filter|Show articles with score less than or equal to -9999"
button is turned off) then you're right, those articles shouldn't
affect the counter, or the bold/normal/black/grey calculation.
