GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 114878
Icons get garbled when new ones are drawn
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
After upgrading to GTK+ 2.2.2 from 2.2.1 all the icons on the desktop started to get garbled. When new pixmaps are drawn somewhere on the screen (when choosing menu entries or activating windows, for example) the pixmaps change. A screenshot of the problem is at http://tik.cs.hut.fi/~vesuri/pixmapbug.png - notice the icons on the desktop. Similar symptoms can be seen in menus as well. The bug seems to be in GDK because I can use all other components from GTK+ 2.2.2 except libgdk-x11-2.0.so.0.200.2. When using libgdk-x11-2.0.so.0.200.1 the icons are rendered correctly. Please note that the theme selector thumbnailing problem seems to be a separate problem. I'll file another bug about it.

This is not a duplicate of bug 114880 but (only?) appears when using the nvidia XFree86 driver.
Actually this only occurs if the RenderAccel XF86Config option is set. NVidia people are investigating the problem.
