GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 112293
Autoscroll + dialog = lock X
Last modified: 2011-02-14 13:06:14 UTC
Screenplay: 1. press middle mouse button to invoke some fancy way of scrolling, where you have some "central point" marker and entire page is being scrolled in the direction paralel to the vector created by the "central point" and mouse cursor (does it have a name?) 2. let the galeon open popup window with content retrived over https (squirrel mail new mail notify in my case) 3. the popup openes message box to tell you that the connection is secure 4. you're screwed up. you cant click anything on screen because scrolling grabbed the mouse pointer. you can't close the message box. keyboard also seems to be dead. only way is to switch to console and kill the galeon. regards

I can confirm this behavior on Debian unstable with Galeon 1.3.5. I let galeon show me incoming cookies and when I am auto-scrolling and a cookie calls for acceptance or rejection I experience the same catch 22. Happens almost daily with heavy browsing. Sometimes I cannot even switch to a different console and have to ssh into the box and kill X and not only galeon-bin. - Apart from that: Thanks for the great work! A. Heydwolff, Vienna

You can also press ctrl-alt-/ or ctrl-alt-* if you add these two lines in your X config in the serverflags section Option "AllowDeactivateGrabs" "True" Option "AllowClosedownGrabs" "True"
