GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 110763
more keymaps in XKb causes terminal to capture some chars
Last modified: 2008-08-16 15:18:25 UTC
When you add more keymaps to XF86Config like this: Option "XkbLayout" "us,cz_qwerty" gnome-terminal starts to capture some chars like 't', 's' as shortcuts (only chars analoging to menu shortcuts) and opens menu. maybe, gnome-terminal uncorrectly adds meta keys to this characters? attach: http://www.gymjat.cz/XF86Config RedHat9 default kernel XFree86 4.3.0 gnome-terminal 2.2.1

I have similar experience when using "Gnome Keyboard Indicator" to switch keymaps. I have added both QWERTY and DVORAK in the keyboard indicator, and the shortcuts of either keymaps can invoke the menu, e.g. Keymap in use Keys Keys in another map Action Dvorak Alt+u Alt+f File menu invoked Dvorak Alt+f Alt+y File menu invoked QWERTY Alt+y Alt+f File menu invoked QWERTY Alt+f Alt+u File menu invoked This is very annoying when I want to use Ctrl+[ in Dvorak, which is mapped to Ctrl+- in QWERTY, and the terminal zooms out. Not a gnome-terminal bug, see bug 162726.
I have never been able to reproduce the behaviour described by Jakub. I remember trying by changing my xfree.conf/xorg.conf file and/or by running setxkbmap us,cz_qwerty Jakub: do you still see this? The problem reported by Siu Man Chan seems to be something else, covered by bug 162726, as Eric notes.
NEEDINFO (see comment 4 first part); comment 2 and possibly also the original issue from comment 0 is a dup of bug 162726.
