GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 110010
German chars broken
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
When sending messages to other ICQ users, German chars are broken. Example: 'ä' reaches the recipient as 'ä ' -- with an additional space after each German special char. I don't know, what information you may need. So everything that comes to mind: - Mandrake 9.1 - GnomeICU 0.99-5.rpm (from your sourceforge page) My locales are slightly mixed between en and de -- UTF-8, though. (With version 0.98.126 that came with ML 9.1 I wasn't able to send those chars at all, due to transforming error to UTF-8) I verified the problems on the following ICQ clients so far: Windows ICQ 2002a build #3728 Windows ICQ 2002b build #3727 Windows ICQ 2003a build #3777 (icq pro) No problem with the following ICQ client: Windows ICQ 2000b beta v.4.56 build #3264 If you need more / additional info, just ask. To cross check with Linux clients, I will tell you my ICQ number (private email).
protocol version: 7 Windows ICQ 2000b beta v.4.56 build #3264 (working) protocol version: 8 Windows ICQ 2002b build #3727 (not working) Windows ICQ 2003a build #3777 (not working)
Can you try the current CVS? I added a encoding related bugfix just after the release?
Compiled 0.99.1 from CVS and can verify fixed for clients: protocol version: 7 Windows ICQ 2000b v.4.63 build #3279 protocol version: 8 Windows ICQ 2002b build #3727 Trillian v0.74 (W/ Patch D) GnomeICU 0.99.1 setting RESOLVED, FIXED in CVS
confirming fixed in CVS for some more Clients/Builds protocol version: 7 Windows ICQ 2000b beta v.4.56 build #3264 protocol version: 8 Windows ICQ 2002a build #3728 Miranda IM v0.2.1 Built Feb 16 2003, 13:04:43
