GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 109811
Dreaming of GTK_STOCK_EDIT
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
Hello, I'm using gtk+-2.2.1 It would be great if we had a GTK_STOCK_EDIT predefined stock item. That's the only missing one I can see! I'm sure lots of programs (not only mine) would find it very useful. Usually, the chosen icon is a pencil on a sheet of paper (look for `edit.png' in your filesystem... you'll find several ones). Other programmers, if you support this idea, don't hesitate to add your comments to this bug! Cheers, Michael.
Please do not "pile on" to bugs unless you have substantive comments to add, it is generally less than helpful. I don't think there is anything wrong with a GTK_STOCK_EDIT, except that people might be tempted to use it for the Edit menu, which would cause problems. But you'd have to get in touch with the icon team and get them to draw an icon for it.
There is a suitable stock_edit_16.png on Jakub Steiners web site: http://jimmac.musichall.cz/ikony/i43/stock_edit-16.png We just need a 24-version to go with it.
Another one on top of my wish list would be a GTK_STOCK_BROWSE, which could be a folder like GTK_STOCK_OPEN but then with a closed shape. Other ones to contemplate: - tip-of-the-day (a lightbulb like dialog-info) - revert (without a diskette) - calculate (an abacus) - connect - upload - download - import - export
I've added gtk-edit now. If you want other stock items, please open a separate bug, and provide information where suitable tigert-style icons can be found.
Great! Thanks a lot Matthias! :-) Michael.
