GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 109530
Throbber present only on one window after save session
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
1. Open two (or more) nautilus windows. 2. Save session, logout and login into the desktop. 3. Observe that the nautilus throbber (right most end of the icon toolbar) is shown only for one of the windows. The remaining window(s) do not contain the throbber. This behaviour is observed only in sun builds where some optimization flags are used. Thanks.
Attaching a patch that solves this problem This patch starts the factory only if it is not already started. Thanks.

Dave, Alex: Can you please review the patch whenever you find some time. Thanks
Please review the patch.
I'm raising the severity of this bug to high since a patch is attached (for a while).
I don't understand why this is needed. If there is a copy of the exe component running then b-a-s shouldn't be launching a new one. And if there is a race i though b-a-s would handle that and only end up with one active factory. And then the old one would exit when it ran out of clients.
Comment on attachment 15307 [details] [review] patch for this bug please answer alex's question - marking needs-work for now
Alex, Dave: Tried to reproduce this bug on a Solaris JDS(gnome-2.6) machine. Opened gconf-editor and set apps->nautilus->prefereneces->always_use_browser to true. Logged out and logged in Opened three different nautilus windows (The windows came in Browser mode) Saved session and Loged out and logged in back All the three windows had the throbber. I guess this patch is no more required and the bug can be closed. Thanks.
