GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 103501
file saving very slow
Last modified: 2018-06-29 20:25:54 UTC
I have a big amount of transactions (~ 20,000), the file is 13M! Saving the file requiere about 10 seconds! too much!
I think it would be nice to have an automatic incremental autosave function, with the possibility of undoing at least till the last manual save. I suggest this: for each transaction entered: - gnucash saves in a temp file every transaction the user enters. - it permits undoing and redoing each transaction since the beginning of the session or since the last manual save. - it merges the new transactions in the main file when a manual save is performed. - at launching gnucash, the program could verify the presence of the temp file, so that if a crash has occured the transactions entered aren't lost This way we are going to achieve the following improvements: - the user is not urged to save every moment for the fear of a crash and the consecuent data loss - it is very difficult to lose data - with many transactions it evites the user to waste 10 seconds each time a save is performed. Thank you for your attencion!
