Is the problem still seen ? Should have been fixed by bug 97182.
I've just updated to RH9, and the sticking seems to happen even more frequently.
A surefire was to reproduce and a way the problem has sometime changed: 1.) How it's changed. With RH8, the panel, when the panel was stuck rasied, it could always be lowered by right clicking on it, going to the properties menu, and clicking OK. In RH9, this may not work. However, it can always be lowered by 1st clicking and unclicking the autohide button. 2.) How to reproduce: - a single panel on the bottom - autohide on - window autoraise on w/ focus follows mouse - window -- say galeon -- is up and it goes from top to bottom of screen. - mouse to bottom of screen so panel raises - rightclick -> properties - (properties menu dives behind galeon window, which is very annoying but a different bug). Go find it. - click OK on the properties window - panel will be stuck raised - note: this can be fixed by just clicking OK in the panel props menu 3.) another way to reproduce (I would bet) - set autohide, window autoraise/focus follows mouse - use computer normally for an hour
I believe this has been fixed in Gnome2.3--I can't reproduce with gnome-panel 2.3.3.3 following Scott's directions. Here's what happens when I try: As soon as I click on properties, the properties window comes up (above all other applications) and the panel instantly hides again. Furthermore, the properties window doesn't have an "OK" button anymore. Of course, I never tried to reproduce this bug under RedHat 9 or before. Scott does this still happen for you with gnome-panel >= 2.3.x? (If you want to wait until RedHat 10 comes out to test this, that's fine).
This is fixed here. Marking as closed. Feel free to reopen if you can still see the bug.
This is not fixed... I just posted another bug report before I read this one... sorry.
