The following patch seems enough to build gnomemm-1.2.3 then gabber-0.8.7, at 
least with gcc-2.96 (aka Redhat's gcc):

For the record, gnome-libs broke the gnome_procbar_construct API in
gnome-libs 1.4.1.6.
