using Windows 10 the first you get when you download Gimp version 2.10 (which is in all news) is the Warning that Smart-screen Filter stopped the file and protected Windows (Internet Explorer - even if no longer used by the most users suggests to remove that installer...).... That will avoid the most users and lead the user to alternatives such as Paint.NET and others.

Suggestion:
- Sign the Installer by using a valid Certificate
Although this Sign is not really "more security" it would enable users to test Gimp.

Furthermore it feels very unhandy when the User have to install Gimp 2.10 first.
There are several Providers that offer Gimp Portable (latest version on portalableapps.com is 2.8.22), but these Providers maybe implement some not-so-nice-to-have code...
- Why not to offer a ready to launch Version which contains all needed files in one zip?
I've installed Gimp v 2.10 in a VM, zipped the C:\Program Files\Gimp folder and resulted in a 177MB file, which seems to work out-of-the-Box.

IMHO: During the installation I've seen that the largest time-consuming part are local customization packages. So I've removed them from the ZIP and would call it the "lightEN"-variant. For the most users it should be easy to understand the English variant and by the way they can 1:1 follow youtube tutorials and search for error-messages.

Removing any other language than EN from "share/locale" and removing the "uninst" folder from the ZIP results in a 127MB file.

Starting Gimp then works without any "SmartScreen"-Issue.

Last Point I've seen is that on the official Gimp Page the Hash is provided in MD5, while there are known issues with that Algorithm - even with SHA1. Maybe it would be possible to update that to SHA256.
