Description sirredbeard 2018-02-02 23:04:15 UTC
Apple Live Photos are photos that contain 3 seconds of video and audio from before and after the photo was taken.

This takes the form of a JPEG file and a short MOV file, shown together in the iOS and macOS platform.

It is a relatively easy standard to implement, there are libraries available.

Google Photos, Facebook, Tumblr, and Flickr all support the Apple Live Photos standard, they combine the JPEG and MOV file in their interfaces, and importing them does not "flatten" them to the JPEG only.

To date no Linux photo app supports Apple Live Photos and it is a big final step for me to make the switch to desktop Linux, I have 3,000+ Apple Live Photos I do not want to give up.
