Description Bastien Nocera 2017-11-19 14:09:35 UTC
I'm not sure whether that's something that's exported by sane, but it would be useful to file an RFE against sane if not. I have an Epson Perfection V600 Photo, which doesn't have a feeder available that I could find.

We do have the scan sources from SANE and with some string matching heuristics can fairly reliably guess if a feeder is available (not ideal, but that's a SANE limitation).

Note the current code doesn't actually contact the scanner until you start a scan though, so that would have to be rethought.

Is there a bug filed against SANE to have this looked into? What string does it use and what do I do to check whether the match is correct?

Using the saned daemon would mean that the enumeration of devices would be already done on startup, and the scanner could be contacted on startup with less costs than "scanimage -L".
