GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 789409
Add support for MPD (music player daemon)
Last modified: 2018-09-24 09:55:30 UTC
Is there any wish to make a grilo plugin for MPD (http://musicpd.org/)? MPD is great for many reasons, has been there for a long time and is still maintained. I would like Gnome Music to be able to stream MPD music. The only other MPD gnome-client (gmpc) is great but hasn't been released since 2011.
I don't see where grilo would fit in there. Even if you could browse the contents of the MPD library, grilo doesn't have any ways to control MPD.
Are you saying that grilo's responsibility is not to play any content but only to search for it? Wouldn't gnome-music be able to play the music found by grilo (at least if the music is local)?
(In reply to Damien Cassou from comment #2) > Are you saying that grilo's responsibility is not to play any content but > only to search for it? I don't know how MPD presents the media, but that would also mean playing the data locally, not remotely. If that's useful, then sure, but I would expect most users of MPD to be underwhelmed by this solution.
