GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 784692
Order Albums/Songs by Original Release Date/Original Year if present.
Last modified: 2018-01-10 15:06:49 UTC
When encountering a remastered release of an album, tools like Picard fill the release/creation date with the day the remastered version was released. But Picard also adds 2 additional tags, Original Release Date and Original Year, with the first release of the album. It would be nice for Music to check for that and sort accordingly.
I would welcome something along these lines as well. Here are a few things that need to be done in order to get this to work. * figure out what is the preferred default order (some ppl actually prefer their remasters to be ordered by their remastered date - especially if they have both the original and remastered version) * check how well tracker supports original/creation date tags and how well supported those are in general (if every tagger has its own way of doing things) * expose an original_creation_date key in grilo * fix the tracker queries to fetch this date and sort with it (probably need to mash the 2 dates together and have one date be the preferred choice in case both are available)
From what I gathered when I looked at the tracker docs, I dont think threre's such tag fetched/exposed as Original Release Date/Original Year. Neither could I find some sort of spec for tagging audio files.
No currently it doesn't exist in the whole stack, I'm not even sure where it should be (if it is) in the tracker ontology. It is available as tag at least in some formats. So there's some figuring out to be done before implementation.
