Description gnomebugzilla 2017-06-27 14:01:25 UTC
Hi. With Wayland it's not possible to do "gksu meld" anymore. So I'm asking if you're planning to use polkit anytime soon?
Comment 1 Kai Willadsen 2017-07-01 02:42:31 UTC
No, it's not planned. Meld has never been intended to be run as root, and while I understand why some people would want to, it's not something I'm going to spend time on.

If someone wanted to look at contributing support for polkit authorisation for file operations, etc. then I'd be more than happy to provide suggestions.

Suggest completing the transition to Gio (bug 317875) will allow the use of Gvfs admin://, and provide a solution.
