Description Ritesh Raj Sarraf 2016-11-12 18:06:29 UTC
I looked at bug: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=745774

And I'm not sure if it applies to this feature too.

Currently, pinch zoom effect, as I understand is implemented for TextView. Because, my evolution client can respond to pinch zoom in its messages.

What it (or the Gtk equivalent) lacks is a "quick tap" feature. Like in quick double press could lead to a Zoom In and quick triple touch could lead to a Zoom Out.

Something like this is readily implemented in the Android Mobile UI.

Steps to reproduce
1. Touchscreen device
2. Quick double touch
3. See Zoom in.

That's up to the application or toolkit, not the compositor.

Let's try for a slightly better title...

I'm not sure this is something that fits at the toolkit level, anyway; I certainly don't want double/triple taps to always zoom in/out (at least not if I'm too "quick", whatever that means) and wouldn't want GTK+ to force that anywhere in my application. It seems to me like the kind of feature that should just be added by app developers, where they feel it makes sense and would be more beneficial than obtrusive to their users.

...then again, it could be opted-into if Bug 734418 was deemed to fit on the GTK+ side.
