Description Judson 2016-07-08 17:33:06 UTC
With some frequency, I find that I'm working with a 3-way merge and the left file (say) is correct about the first few lines of a hunk, and the right file is correct about the bottom. Sync markers are a way to handle this, but if I could tell Meld somehow "split this hunk here" that would be far and away better.

I can understand the motivation here, but I'm not sure how it would work. Because a chunk always has two sides, we'd need some idea of what the other side should be.

The only thing I can think of would be that we somehow split out an insert chunk with an implicit start/end of the top/bottom of the existing chunk. I feel like this might cause more confusion than benefit UI-wise, but without trying it it's very hard to know for sure.
