That sounds like a bad thing to do, capitalisation is not something fonts should be messing with since it is a property of text.
Hm, I see it as a reasonable convenience. Not sure about it.
Not very reasonable IMHO, first the current German capitalisation rule is ß → SS, second users can’t easily turn this off which can be very frustrating.
