Description Federico Bruni 2015-11-25 10:40:22 UTC
While working on a file, a pop-up window told me that the file was changed externally and asked me if I wanted to refresh the contents.
This was surprising, because I'm 100% sure that I did not change that file in any other place. So I thought that Builder wanted to just refresh the contents for some reason. Stupid decision: I lost two days work because of this. And I cannot see any backup file using 'ls -a' in the file directory.
Unfortunately, I did not commit that file to git repository yet.
I guess that it's really lost. Too bad.

Very nasty bug.
I'll stay away from Builder until it's stable.

I warmly recommend adding a default backup file asap.

In case it helps with reproducing the bug, the file I was working on was split in two panes vertically

Splits in Builder share the same GtkSourceBuffer, so that shouldn't have an effect.

(Ah, the info bar, as we don't have any popup windows).

Is there any chance you changed the repository out from under Builder with git? If the file disappears, there isn't much we can do. We don't delete files, we only reload them from disk.

I'm extremely sorry you lost 2 days of work, but I'm not able to determine how Builder could have caused this.

Please do let us know if you manage to reproduce this.
