GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 754989
hard to set the correct location
Last modified: 2017-11-24 21:36:42 UTC
Currently the location entry in calendar is very freeform and doesn't allow for searching/autocompleting against well known addresses. gnome-maps have this functionality, so maybe it's possible to just get it from there.
Do you mean having a map widget where you select an address? Or just having the searching be the same general interface? We use geocode-glib as an interface against OpenStreetMaps Nominatim geocoder (geocode is address to location). One issue is that the support for house numbers in OpenStreetMaps is not that good. So it will be difficult to search/complete against precise address.
I think searching could fit. Is the house numbers simply about missing data, or hard to look up?
Mockup of how it could work: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/gnome-design-team/gnome-mockups/master/maps/calendar-integration.png
My impression is that the numbers are missing data. It varies from country/city tho I would think. You can play around with the search in Maps to get an impression. Btw, mockups for Maps to indicate that the address is approximate would be nice :) Like when you go from a contact with an exact address but end up on the street because the house numbers info was missing in OpenStreetMaps. The mockups above are def. doable.

Could you file a bug about with more details that so I don't forget?
