GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 746082
Translating descriptions of characters
Last modified: 2018-02-08 13:14:47 UTC
I want to ask, where can be translated descriptions of characters. Example: "Upwards arrow", "Exclamation mark", "Smiling face with open mouth", etc etc. Thanks!
Sorry, I don't know how to deal with that. Ideally it should be done in Unicode itself, but I don't know of any effort except: http://www.unicode.org/notes/tn24/ Also, even if there were, it would increase the package size significantly (and also the workloads of translators).
Well, just doing gettext (description) doesn't cost you much - of course, you'll have to figure out some way to get all the descriptions injected in the pot file. You could also set up a separate translation domain for this, like we do in GTK+ for property blurbs.
