Description Bryce Nesbitt 2014-09-26 05:49:46 UTC
I read http://gparted.org/faq.php

Downloaded the live CD.
Moved a /boot partition,
which triggering a notice that grub would probably be broken and I should read http://gparted.org/faq.php

I read it.

The command "grub" is not on live CD,
and the grub commands that were present (like "update-grub")
gave errors about not working on `aufs'.

My system was actually fine and booted anyway,

---

I suspect this section of the FAQ is completely out of date,
perhaps referring to grub1 not grub2.

Thank you Bryce for your interest in GParted and for reporting this GRUB 1 (Legacy) versus GRUB 2 inconsistency in the documentation.

You are correct that the latest GParted Live images no longer include GRUB 1.

Updates to the documentation are in progress. See:
Bug #734376 - Add GRUB 2 Restore Steps to GParted Manual

These updates will appear when GParted 0.20.0 is released.

Thanks again Bryce for bringing the issue of the outdated FAQ to our attention.

The FAQ has been updated with regards to fixing GRUB boot as of the GParted 0.20.0 release on October 20, 2014.
