GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 719436
Cannot play videos from www.nba.com
Last modified: 2018-08-03 20:09:29 UTC
- Steps to reproduce: 1- Go to http://www.nba.com 2- The front page shows several tiles with videos 3- Click play in one of them 4- A new page is opened showing a video player - Expected outcome: the video is played - Actual outcome: no video shown. It eventually shows a plugin error inside the video canvas I guess it's a matter of activating some setting because MiniBrowser nicely plays the videos.
My browser (epiphany) does play videos from http://www.nba.com. You should try to update/install flash on your system. Screenshot: http://imagebin.org/282359

You should try > to update/install flash on your system. > > Screenshot: http://imagebin.org/282359 This has nothing to do with installing flash, because it works in the other browsers. It likely works for you because you're using the package provided by your distribution. I'm talking about epiphany and WebKit built from the repositories.
This is a mass NEEDINFO of all Epiphany bugs with no activity in the past three years. I'm going to be automatically closing old bugs to help us focus on current problems. If you feel this bug is still relevant with Epiphany 3.26 or newer, then please leave any comment here so that I know not to close this one.
Tried today with https://watch.nba.com/video/channels/highlights/48eb143c-c77a-42ed-9450-a4c95acee11a.nba?category=latestnbavideos and still no luck, the bug is there.

Correction, works fine with MiniBrowser but totally fails with Debian's ephy 3.28.0.1 webkitgtk 2.20.0 libsoup 2.62.0 glib-networking 2.56.0
If it works in MiniBrowser but not Epiphany, then try disabling the adblocker. First error in the web inspector is related to an ad: [Error] ERROR TypeError: undefined is not an object (evaluating 'window.nbaAdSidebar.init') (anonymous function) — adInit.js:4 onInvokeTask — vendor.bundle.js:1:261798 runTask — polyfills.bundle.js:1:40411 invokeTask — polyfills.bundle.js:1:46338 (anonymous function) — polyfills.bundle.js:1:60527 nrWrapper — morning-tip-mailbag-march-26-2018:10:11786 Lt (vendor.bundle.js:1:244825) handleError (vendor.bundle.js:1:245019) next (vendor.bundle.js:1:267655) (anonymous function) (vendor.bundle.js:1:260535) __tryOrUnsub (vendor.bundle.js:1:154579) next (vendor.bundle.js:1:153865) _next (vendor.bundle.js:1:152934) next (vendor.bundle.js:1:152606) next (vendor.bundle.js:1:519938) emit (vendor.bundle.js:1:260309) run (polyfills.bundle.js:1:39716) onHandleError (vendor.bundle.js:1:262165) runTask (polyfills.bundle.js:1:40466) invokeTask (polyfills.bundle.js:1:46338) (anonymous function) (polyfills.bundle.js:1:60527) nrWrapper (morning-tip-mailbag-march-26-2018:10:11786) Other errors: [Error] Failed to load resource: Error resolving “cvpdev.turner.com”: No address associated with hostname (cvp.min.js.map, line 0) [Error] Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 403 (Forbidden) (bWVzc2FnaW5nLmpz.map, line 0) [Error] Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 403 (Forbidden) (Ym9vdHN0cmFwLmpz.map, line 0)
I doesn't play at all in Fedora's MiniBrowser, but that might be a codecs issue I guess.
It fails to play for me even with adblocker disabled. I don't have any other guesses for why it might be working in MiniBrowser but not Epiphany.
