GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 709749
SIP, GEO, skype fields not imported from Google contacts
Last modified: 2018-01-24 15:09:37 UTC
Created attachment 256833 [details] Google contacts showing SIP field Hello, starting with gnome 3.10 I wanted to use Gnome-contacts as a central contact point for my contacts but I found it doesn't import all expected Google Contacts fields. I have my Google Contacts with SIP (VoIP) field I created on Google Contacts as a custom field "SIP" and would like to have this field reflected on Gnome-contacts as well so when I search for a contact on google-contacts I can call via softphone such contact. I know there exists the posibility to add SIP phones by creating a SIP address book but that shouldn't be necesary in my case if gnome-contacts where be able to get such fields directly from my Google Contacts. Also I wouldn't like to mantain 2 or more address books for each detail if such detail can be present on one address book. Also other fields I found missing are: *GEO (the posibility to add geographic information so I can see my contacts location on the new gnome maps aplication or in Marble maps). *skype field *groups (specify a group to which a contact is in) Adding this fields would make Gnome-contacts a really good central point for contacts on Gnome Desktop P.S.: I can see now Google Contacts has a new field called "Internet Call" wich could be imported to gnome contacts as "SIP" which is the label recognized by all sipphones. Thanks!
Correction: "I have my Google Contacts with SIP (VoIP) field I created on Google Contacts as a custom field "SIP" and would like to have this field reflected on Gnome-contacts as well so when I search for a contact on *gnome-contacts* I can call via softphone such contact."
We should certainly display these fields if they are present. As for editing them: I don't think we should allow provider-specific fields to be added, but we could perhaps allow these fields to be edited (although I'd be happy to have them read only, and therefore not appear in the edit view).
Displaying those fields would be good. Thanks!
