Description Derek Moore 2013-09-28 01:59:17 UTC
Epiphany repeatedly defaults to full-screen/maximized when started.

It looks ugly starting in full screen mode, URL and search entry bar is tiny and app nav widgets are far apart at extreme right and extreme left.

Double-clicking empty space in toolbar does not unmaximize as expected. Only means to unmaximize is to drag down.

Once unmaximized it is at its smallest possible width and a fairly small height. And there seems to be little space to grab hold to if you want to move the window again later.

I have just described about three or 4 different bugs in this one interaction.

I have noticed this problem with new Incognito mode windows only (3.12), not with regular windows.

I would not mind if the first time the window were shown maximized, but it's kind of annoying that Epiphany does not remember the window's size (it could also take the size from the last window opened), particularly when working on a relatively big screen (27").

We need to remember the window size and save it in gsettings, rather than a profile directory, so it works for incognito mode as well.

The difficulty is, not losing the size for each web-app already created. So I disagree on the suggested way to do things. But IIRC there’s already some behaviour change in the patchset of 757765 and, if it needs some adjustments as discussed, it will be easier to set a default size there for non-created modes.
Comment 4 Michael Catanzaro 2015-12-08 19:35:33 UTC
Well we can keep individual sizes for web apps if you want, but I think incognito mode should share size with normal mode... or at least its size should not be lost.
