GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 700080
sharing-desktop.page needs update regarding UPnP-related help
Last modified: 2018-03-26 14:31:05 UTC
The preferences dialog in Vino was removed in bug 700070, which will be released in 3.9.2. This means that the only way to access the Vino preferences is via the Control Center. This was mostly true in 3.8, as the vino-preferences desktop file was set to not show in GNOME. 3.6 was the last version with the preferences dialog as described in: https://git.gnome.org/browse/gnome-user-docs/tree/gnome-help/C/sharing-desktop.page
I have updated the instructions to reflect the new sharing panel, and will push the changes shortly. I just wanted to confirm that the notification setting and the UPnP setting don't exist somewhere else.
(In reply to comment #1) > I just wanted to confirm that the notification setting and > the UPnP setting don't exist somewhere else. Sadly not (that I am aware of), although they are of course available via GSettings. UPnP is problematic, as forwarding ports on an Internet-facing router on demand is a security problem (just guessing at the logic of hiding that setting from the UI, as I did not make the decision).
commit bf10022f4c6c6fb18d8c46c2e63f6b76138956e1 submitted for review. I commented out the missing settings bits.
I've updated the "disconnect from a shared desktop session" as part of commit 10c3ae057aaebd3936f090273a95e81e33ee58b4. The UPnP-related help is still needed. I don't have the proper setup to test this currently, though. Will need to address it when I get back home.
