Description pmcgover 2013-03-10 21:09:07 UTC
This is an enhancement request to have Gnumeric persist the settings of the last csv file import/export action. This would make Gnumeric much more productive for common tasks.

The settings should also include option to change (and persist) the default column data type. The current default column data type is "General" which will automatically convert date fields to a different date format. However, if the default data type was persisted to "Text" then the data will not be "auto-changed" when various csv files are opened and saved (exported).

csv import and export has no settings. Are you referring to the configurable text importer?

Recent versions of Gnumeric will already persists the text export settings within a Gnumeric session. (Otherwise the Repeat-Export would be quite useless.)

You can set the default formatting for text-export, which is in fact much better than persisting evedry possible one-of formatting.

So with respect to recent versions of Gnumeric (current is 1.12.1), are you asking for some persistence of the configurable-text-importer settings?

Thanks for your speedy response!

Yes, I am referring to the configurable text importer. I was not able to install the latest version via apt-get or building from the source. I will load that version on a liveCD and report my findings in a day or two.

Sorry, I was not able to install/test that version of gnumeric despite several attempts...

Is there a .deb package for new version that will work with apt-get on xubuntu 12.10?
Comment 5 Andreas J. Guelzow 2013-03-23 20:42:29 UTC
Gnumeric 1.12.1 is available in Debian Sid. I have no idea whether that deb would work on xubuntu 12.10.
