Description Paul Menzel 2012-10-01 13:08:06 UTC
Using Debian Sid/unstable with Rhythmbox 2.97-1, Rhythmbox takes a long time to start up, because I have no Avahi daemon running, since all stuff is stored locally.

    $ sudo service avahi-daemon status
    Avahi mDNS/DNS-SD Daemon is not running

The following message is printed to `/var/log/syslog`.

    dbus[2544]: [system] Failed to activate service 'org.freedesktop.Avahi': timed out

It would be great if Rhythmbox would not stall/block(?) if no Avahi daemon is running.
