A minimal test file I created. Image is random internet test image.

I cannot get a linked image to render using rsvg-convert despite rendering correctly in a browser and in Inkscape. I have tried file:// and http:// but neither work.

On further testing I realised that rsvg-convert isn't rendering examples created by Inkscape either.

However, embedding an image works.

I have only tested this on a Mac: (OSX 10.8.2). rsvg-convert version 2.36.3

Minimal svg with http link
Comment 5 Christian Persch 2012-09-22 15:35:47 UTC
The 'local image link' case works here (replacing the link with an existing local file, of course); rsvg 2.36.3 on fedora 17.

The 'http image link' case not working when loading the svg from a local file is not working; however I think this can be said to be a security feature.
Comment 6 Sam Phillips 2012-09-22 15:56:19 UTC
Thanks. Must be a Mac thing then I suppose.

Did you use link:href="file://filename" or are you able to like straight with link:href="filename" ?
Comment 7 Christian Persch 2012-09-22 16:11:47 UTC
Either works.
Comment 8 Sam Phillips 2012-09-22 16:29:37 UTC
Would you expect rsvg-format to produce a warning or an error in a circumstance like this?
Is there a hidden debug/verbose option?
Comment 9 Christian Persch 2012-09-22 16:36:15 UTC
No, ressource errors are ignored silently. There's no debug option.
Comment 10 Sam Phillips 2012-09-22 23:44:09 UTC
I've just tested rsvg-convert version 2.26.2 on Linux version 2.6.32.21-mthunk-mb1 (root@shedu) (gcc version 4.1.2 20061115 (prerelease) (Debian 4.1.1-21)) #1 SMP Fri Sep 17 12:27:27 BST 2010

Same problems with images.
