Description LAZA 2012-04-23 07:35:21 UTC
first i opened up gnome-commander as an administrator to have the rights to copyg some files from internal to external hdd.

i wanted to search for a specific file on the external hdd.

- pressed F9, search window opens up, path is correct "/media/Video-S/"
- seaching for any keyword brings up an error window with:

     /media/Video-S/
Datei nicht gefunden (File not found)

all other tries leads to the same error, it is not only on the root dir of the external hdd.

Xubuntu 11.10
Linux ubuntu 3.0.0-17-generic #30-Ubuntu SMP Thu Mar 8 20:45:39 UTC 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Package: gnome-commander
Versions:
1.2.8.13-1 (/var/lib/apt/lists/archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_oneiric_universe_binary-amd64_Packages) (/var/lib/dpkg/status)

I can confirm this bug. In fact for any searches outside of your home directory the search results in a not found error.

Even worse if you search the root directory gnome-commander crashes hard. Sometimes it causes my mint 15 cinnamon desktop to freeze to the point of forcing a reboot.

Thank you for your bug report. May you please try out v1.4.0? I can not confirm the described behavior in that version: Files of an external USB hard disk or below the root directory can be found by gnome-commander in this case.
Comment 3 LAZA 2014-03-25 06:41:09 UTC
Sorry, i'm stuck to the version of my distribution (Xubuntu).
I hope, 1.4.0 will be in the upcoming Trusty 14.04 LTS - but atm it is 1.2.8.17.

Is there an possibility to do an request to the Ubuntu community to get this in?

Else, i will try it in an VM with the upcoming 14.10...
