GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 668671
Banshee key-bindings on Xubuntu not working
Last modified: 2020-03-17 09:19:55 UTC
Hello, Banshee 2.2.1 on Xubuntu 11.10 does not respond to key bindings for [play/pause][stop][next][prev] of my Dell Vostro 1510 keyboard. Is this a bug or a settings issue only? Thanks. B.
Does totem respond to them?
Yes it does.
Do they work on Ubuntu/KUbuntu?
I used to have Ubuntu till Ubuntu 11.04 and it worked without problem.
The question is really for this specific same version, if you could test in Ubuntu/KUbuntu 11.10...
I can't but I will see if I can get input from askubuntu.com
Does it need to be on the same computer model (DELL Vostro 1510)?
OK I tried from the Ubuntu 11.10 LiveCD and Banshee does respond to the key-bindings.
(In reply to comment #8) > OK I tried from the Ubuntu 11.10 LiveCD and Banshee does respond to the > key-bindings. Thanks, that leaves me to believe this is not a bug in Banshee's source code. Andre what do you think? Should we close it as NOTGNOME?
benjamin, can you confirm that the Multimedia Keys extension is enabled in Edit > Preferences > Extensions (tab)? If the extension is enabled and it works in Totem, but not Banshee, a debug log[1] would be useful, because it sounds like the extension isn't starting. Yes, the extension is enabled. I imagine the debug log for Bug 66870 will do here too?
Banshee is not under active development anymore and had its last code changes more than three years ago. Its codebase has been archived. Closing this report as WONTFIX as part of Bugzilla Housekeeping to reflect reality. Please feel free to reopen this ticket (or rather transfer the project to GNOME Gitlab, as GNOME Bugzilla is being shut down) if anyone takes the responsibility for active development again.
