Description benjamin 2012-01-25 16:04:47 UTC
Hello,

Banshee 2.2.1 on Xubuntu 11.10 does not respond to key bindings for [play/pause][stop][next][prev] of my Dell Vostro 1510 keyboard.

Is this a bug or a settings issue only?

Thanks.
B.
Comment 1 André Klapper 2012-01-26 09:54:22 UTC
Does totem respond to them?
Comment 2 benjamin 2012-01-26 11:44:26 UTC
Yes it does.
Comment 3 Andrés G. Aragoneses (IRC: knocte) 2012-01-26 11:49:41 UTC
Do they work on Ubuntu/KUbuntu?
Comment 4 benjamin 2012-01-26 11:52:47 UTC
I used to have Ubuntu till Ubuntu 11.04 and it worked without problem.
Comment 5 André Klapper 2012-01-26 12:00:18 UTC
The question is really for this specific same version, if you could test in Ubuntu/KUbuntu 11.10...
Comment 6 benjamin 2012-01-26 12:02:36 UTC
I can't but I will see if I can get input from askubuntu.com
Comment 7 benjamin 2012-01-26 12:04:43 UTC
Does it need to be on the same computer model (DELL Vostro 1510)?
Comment 8 benjamin 2012-01-26 12:54:32 UTC
OK I tried from the Ubuntu 11.10 LiveCD and Banshee does respond to the key-bindings.

Thanks, that leaves me to believe this is not a bug in Banshee's source code. Andre what do you think? Should we close it as NOTGNOME?
Comment 10 Michael Martin-Smucker 2012-01-28 02:23:19 UTC
benjamin, can you confirm that the Multimedia Keys extension is enabled in Edit > Preferences > Extensions (tab)? If the extension is enabled and it works in Totem, but not Banshee, a debug log[1] would be useful, because it sounds like the extension isn't starting.

Banshee Debug Log File

As requested.
Comment 12 benjamin 2012-01-29 14:46:30 UTC
Yes, the extension is enabled. I imagine the debug log for Bug 66870 will do here too?
Comment 13 André Klapper 2020-03-17 09:19:55 UTC
Banshee is not under active development anymore and had its last code changes more than three years ago. Its codebase has been archived.

Closing this report as WONTFIX as part of Bugzilla Housekeeping to reflect
reality. Please feel free to reopen this ticket (or rather transfer the project
to GNOME Gitlab, as GNOME Bugzilla is being shut down) if anyone takes the
responsibility for active development again.
See https://gitlab.gnome.org/Infrastructure/Infrastructure/issues/264 for more info.
