Description Daniel Mustieles 2011-09-18 17:33:36 UTC
There is a /doc folder that seems to be libgda's documentation, but it is'n listed in Damned-Lies.

D-L is just listing UI po files and tools/browser/help po files. Is this a bug?

In the other hand, /doc folder just contains translations for «el» and «gl» languages, but Makefile.am lists «es» in DOC_LINGUAS (but there is no /doc/es folder).

* Why is this folder not listed in D-L?

*Should I remove the «es» language from the Makefile.am, to prevent possible compiling errors?

Many thanks

The /doc folder holds the API documentation for Libgda and Libgdaui, and as such I don't think it should be translated (as the API documentation comes from the comments in source code files).

The tools/browser/help files are GdaBrowser's help files and it' good to have them translated. The gda-sql man page could also be translated, but I don't know how to do it (or even if it's doable).

As for the Damned-Lies listing, I don't know how it works or who manages it.

I'm adding Claude Paroz to the CC list. Maybe he cal tell us if API documentation mus be listed in D-L.

Generally, API doc is using gtk-doc and we don't translate it. In this case, the DocBook content could be added to Damned-Lies, but unless you see a real need for that, I suggest to stick with our current policy to not translate API doc.

However, if some team make the effort to translate it nevertheless, it should be nice to generate the translated content.

And about man page, we have currently not the infrastructure in place to translate them. It is sometimes done at the distribution level.

In this case, i think we can remove the «es» reference in the Makefile.am (since there is no spanish translation for the API).

If I have some time, I'll try to translate it... but i don't promise it!
